Installation Warranty Tiers
Every engine we sell carries an installation warranty against internal mechanical failure. Cover starts on the day the engine is delivered or collected. Longer cover can be added at the time of purchase - it cannot be added after the engine has been installed.
Covers internal mechanical failure during and immediately after installation. Included in the price of every engine.
Extends cover for internal mechanical failure through the first months of service. Priced per engine - ask the engine desk.
Our longest cover on used engines, intended for fleets running high annual miles. Priced per engine.
Warranty covers the engine itself - block, head, crank, rods, pistons, bearings and internal oil-fed components. It does not cover labor, rental trucks, recovery, downtime or loss of earnings.
What Voids the Warranty on a Used Engine
A used truck engine only lasts if it is installed properly and serviced immediately. These are the things that end cover - every one of them is a failure we see regularly:
Returns Window
Uninstalled engines - 30 days
You have 30 days from delivery to return an engine you no longer need. Tell us in writing, return it uninstalled and in the condition it arrived, and we refund the price. Return freight on a change-of-mind return is at your cost, and we may reduce the refund if the engine has been used or handled beyond what was needed to inspect it. An engine that has been installed has been used.
Fleets and shops - 7 days to inspect
Trade and fleet customers get 7 days from delivery to inspect the engine and raise any discrepancy before it goes in. Return it uninstalled, in original condition and on its frame, and we refund the price less freight and a restocking fee agreed in advance.
Wrong engine supplied
If we sent the wrong engine after confirming fitment against your VIN, we arrange and pay for the return, and either supply the correct engine or refund you in full.
Damaged in transit
Note the damage on the carrier's paperwork, photograph the crate and tell us within 48 hours. We claim against the carrier and arrange a replacement or a refund.
Your rights under state and federal law
Nothing on this page limits any right you have under the consumer-protection law of your state or under federal law, including the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act. Used engines are supplied with the written installation warranty set out above; the warranty tiers sit alongside your legal rights, not instead of them.
Returning Your Core
Your invoice includes a refundable core charge for your old engine and a refundable deposit for the steel mounting frame. Both are credited once we have the parts back. You have 30 days from delivery to return them.
Keep the Frame and Pallet
The new engine arrives bolted into a steel frame. Do not scrap it - the old engine goes back in the same frame, on the same pallet.
Drain and Seal the Old Engine
Drain the oil and coolant, blank off the open ports and strap the unit down. Cores that leak in transit are refused by carriers.
Book the Collection
Email or call the engine desk with your invoice number. We arrange the collection on the return leg - in most zones this costs you nothing.
Inspection and Credit
We inspect the core on arrival. If the block is sound and the unit is complete, the core charge and mount deposit are credited in full within 5-10 business days. If parts are missing or the block is cracked, we tell you the reduced figure before crediting.
Refunds and Credits
- Refunds go back to the original payment method, in US dollars.
- Approved returns are refunded within 5 business days of the engine reaching us and passing inspection.
- ACH and wire refunds typically clear within 3-5 business days; card refunds 5-7 business days.
- Core charges and mount deposits are credited after inspection, usually within 5-10 business days.
- Return freight is at your cost for change-of-mind returns; we pay it for wrong engines, transit damage and valid warranty claims.
Making a Warranty Claim
Stop the engine as soon as a fault appears. Running a failing diesel engine turns a repairable fault into a scrap block, and continued running after a warning is not covered.
- Contact us with your invoice number, the engine reference number and a description of the fault.
- Send the installation invoice from the shop, plus the oil and filter receipts from the first-start service.
- Do not open the engine. Removing seals or attempting an internal repair before we authorize it ends the cover.
- We may ask for the engine to be returned for inspection, or send a technician, before agreeing a repair, a replacement engine or a refund.
- Claims are assessed on the engine only. Labor, recovery, rental trucks and downtime are not covered.
